ENBRIDGE INC.
HONOUREE FOR OUTSTANDING CORPORATE PHILANTHROPIST

Nominated By: Alberta Cancer Foundation

Recognized for their strong tradition of community caring, Enbridge Inc. is this year’s Generosity of Spirit™ Honouree for Outstanding Corporate Philanthropist.

In 2005, Enbridge made their largest community donation of $1.2 million to fund a new research chair in psychosocial oncology. “The establishment of this chair will enable the Alberta Cancer Board to attract and recruit world leaders in psychosocial oncology research,” says Janelle Wakaruk of the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

“With over 149,000 new cancer diagnoses each year in Canada, the need for a compassionate multidisciplinary health care model is critical,” says Pat Daniel, President & CEO, Enbridge Inc. “ We hope that through our contribution we can enhance patient quality of life and reduce the burden placed upon families, patients, and communities.”

“We manage a holistic community investment program,” says Dan O’Grady, Manager of Community and Partnership Investments. “We understand the complexities and interdependencies of need within our communities spanning social services, health, environment, education, arts and culture, and civic leadership.”

Supporting Enbridge’s nomination were Alberta Ballet, Ducks Unlimited Canada, and other community partners.

Enbridge’s staff are tireless ambassadors for Alberta Ballet, says Melody Song, Director of Development, Alberta Ballet.

“Enbridge takes responsibility toward the community and the environment seriously,” says Gordon K. Edwards, Executive Vice-President, Ducks Unlimited Canada. “Their track record as a good corporate citizen proves they have a long-term interest in philanthropy.”

“A key operating value of Enbridge is respect,” says Mr. O’Grady “and it transcends everything we do.”
