"I'm a storyteller – not a philanthropist in the traditional sense," says Rick Castiglione of Cielo Pictures, this year's recipient of the Generosity of Spirit™ Award for Outstanding Small Business Philanthropist. "But in my life I've been able to understand the meaning of philanthropy. It's about figuring out what humanity is all about and how our lives can help others."

Rick's business, Cielo Pictures, produces documentaries on, and promotional videos for, humanitarian organizations to help them with awareness and/or fundraising. He also uses his "storytelling" to inspire individuals to get involved in humanitarian work. These documentaries are stories about hope and compassion – stories that explore the human spirit, courage, love and determination. Some of Rick's most profound moments have come from producing these documentaries.

"Without the generous support of Rick and Cielo Pictures, Operation Eyesight would not have been able to create and produce the films that have allowed us to bring the reality of blindness in the developing world to a mass audience," says Jennifer McGlashan, CFRE with Operation Eyesight Universal. "These films have inspired our donors to give generously and because of their support, we have been able to restore the sight of more than two million people and treat over 33 million others for a variety of potentially blinding conditions."
